Schedule
9:00am - Noon: Morning workshops
"Telling Personal Stories and Sharing History” Workshop with Kim Pearson
Begin telling stories about your own experiences by exploring the relationship between big history and your individual life. History is not a dry recital of dates and places: history is stories. And you were there! This 3-hour workshop shows you an easy, fun, and no pressure way to:
- Discover your place in history
- Remember the stories of your time
- Hear inspiring, tragic, humorous real stories from others
- Wow your audience with great stories of your own
Take a gallop back in time, to the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s with author, ghostwriter and historian Kim Pearson, and discover how you participated in and contributed to the events and trends of those times. Whether you were 7 or 77, what you did, thought, felt, and witnessed mattered – to history! More information about Kim at www.primary-sources.com.
"Creating Characters You (and Your Listeners) Can Believe In" Workshop with Jill Johnson – Engaging,
believable characters are a cornerstone of good storytelling. Explore successful
techniques for all phases (preparation, rehearsal and performance) of
story-making. This workshop is for storytellers and all who use story in their work.
Jill has performed and given workshops all over the U.S. and abroad. She has been a featured performer with Humanities Washington and toured in Africa. More information about Jill at http://globalvillagestory.com.
Noon-1:30pm: Lunch
Explore the offerings of California Ave. (plenty to be had!) or bring a brown bag lunch to the Lunch Hour Story Swap in the Social Hall.
1:30pm: "Tales for the Animals" Concert featuring Jill Johnson, Doug Banner, musicians Pint & Dale and our favorite MC Pat Peterson
Storyteller, actress, teacher, and trainer, Jill Johnson shares traditional tales from around the world, historical tales of men and women, ghosts, heroes, and scoundrels – famous, infamous – and unknown, original tales about growing up, traditions and family, cross-cultural experiences, friendships, and the beauty of the wild.
Doug Banner has been a Community Builder and Activist all his life and is recognized as a World Folklorist. His repertoire includes hundreds of stories from cultures around the world. His uses of imagery, voice, and music have made his performances memorable to children and adults alike. More information about Doug at http://dougbannerstoryteller.com

Jill Johnson - Doug Banner - Pint & Dale
Years of experience has gone into the making of the musical duet Pint&Dale. They deliver a performance with dynamic vocals and exciting instrumental fireworks. Early music to modern - traditional to contemporary, heart wrenching to downright silly. More information at www.pintndale.com
